The Negros Oriental Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NOCCI), led by President Edward Du, participated in the 49th Philippine Business Conference and Expo (PBC&E) held at The Manila Hotel, Manila. Also part of NOCCI’s delegation to the PBC&E were Executive Director John Jalandoni and Executive Assistant Rowie Limbaga.
The PBC&E, an annual business conference organized by the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI), is the prime avenue for the leaders of both government and private sectors to have a dialogue on key policy issues concerning business as well as the country’s economy.
This year’s conference theme, “Vision 2050: The Philippines, A First-World Economy,” is a manifestation of a country that rises as a middle-income country before 2028; achieves most of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and addresses the challenges of poverty, inequality, infrastructure, corruption, criminality, and climate change by 2030; joins the list of fist-world countries by 2040; and ranks as one of the top 20 economies in the world by 2050 (Palafox, 2023).
On October 24, 2023, prior to the PBC&E Proper, the Chamber Management Forum (CMF) was conducted wherein the local chamber of commerce and industry (LCCI) leaders shared their best practices on managing and developing an LCCI.
In a demonstration of proactive engagement and commitment to shaping the economic future of the Philippines, the Negros Oriental Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NOCCI), under the leadership of President Edward Du, took part in the 49th Philippine Business Conference and Expo (PBC&E) held at The Manila Hotel, Manila. This influential event, organized by the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI), serves as a crucial platform for leaders from both government and private sectors to engage in dialogues on key policy issues impacting business and the nation’s economy.
NOCCI’s delegation, including Executive Director John Jalandoni and Executive Assistant Rowie Limbaga, actively participated in the conference, contributing insights and perspectives to the overarching theme of this year’s event, “Vision 2050: The Philippines, A First-World Economy.” This theme envisions the Philippines achieving the status of a middle-income country before 2028, addressing Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030, becoming a first-world nation by 2040, and ranking among the top 20 economies globally by 2050.
The conference served as a melting pot of ideas, strategies, and discussions, bringing together leaders who are instrumental in shaping the economic trajectory of the country. The gathering not only addressed immediate challenges but also laid out a roadmap for long-term economic prosperity, aligning with NOCCI’s dedication to fostering a robust business environment in Negros Oriental.
As a precursor to the main conference, the Chamber Management Forum (CMF) on October 24, 2023, provided a platform for local chamber of commerce and industry (LCCI) leaders to share best practices. This exchange of ideas and experiences contributes to the collaborative effort of enhancing the management and development of LCIs across the country.
NOCCI’s active involvement in these forums signifies its commitment to staying at the forefront of economic discussions and leveraging collective wisdom to drive positive change. The insights gained from PBC&E and CMF not only benefit NOCCI but also empower the chamber to play a crucial role in the economic advancement of Negros Oriental.
In the journey towards Vision 2050, NOCCI remains steadfast in its advocacy, contributing actively to the national dialogue on economic development and positioning Negros Oriental as a key player in the country’s quest for a first-world economy.
