Negros Oriental Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NOCCI) President Edward Du recently hosted a luncheon meeting with the local media in Dumaguete City. The gathering served as a platform for President Du to express his heartfelt gratitude to the media professionals who have played a crucial role in promoting NOCCI’s advocacies and disseminating accurate information about the creation of the Negros Island Region (NIR).
In his opening remarks, President Du acknowledged the vital contribution of the Dumaguete media in raising awareness about NOCCI’s initiatives, not just within the business community but across the entire province of Negros Oriental. He emphasized that the media’s efforts have significantly helped in spreading the word about the benefits of NIR, particularly in the lead-up to its approval and signing into law by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on June 13, 2024.
“The media has always been a strong partner of NOCCI in our mission to advocate for economic development and social responsibility. Your role in informing and educating the public about the creation of the Negros Island Region has been invaluable, and for that, we are truly grateful,” President Du stated.
When asked about the expected benefits of the newly created NIR, President Du highlighted that one of the primary advantages would be the promotion of the ease of doing business within the region. He noted that the NIR’s establishment would streamline bureaucratic processes and foster a more business-friendly environment, particularly in the provinces of Negros Oriental, Negros Occidental, and Siquijor.
“The creation of NIR is a game-changer for our region. It will significantly improve the ease of doing business by consolidating resources, enhancing infrastructure, and providing more efficient services to entrepreneurs and investors alike. This regional integration will undoubtedly attract more business opportunities and investments, ultimately benefiting the local economy,” Du explained.
During the luncheon, President Du also took the opportunity to share valuable insights and tips on becoming a successful entrepreneur. Drawing from his extensive experience in the business world, he emphasized the importance of perseverance, innovation, and adaptability in navigating the challenges of entrepreneurship.
“Success in business is not just about having a great idea; it’s about being persistent, constantly innovating, and adapting to the ever-changing market landscape. Entrepreneurs must be willing to take risks, learn from failures, and continuously seek new ways to improve their products or services. These qualities are what distinguish successful business leaders from the rest,” Du advised.
The luncheon meeting was well-received by the media attendees, who appreciated the candid discussion and the opportunity to engage with NOCCI’s leadership on important issues affecting the region. The event also underscored NOCCI’s commitment to fostering strong relationships with the media, recognizing their role as key partners in driving economic growth and community development.
President Du reiterated his appreciation for the media’s ongoing support and expressed optimism about the future of the Negros Island Region. He assured the media that NOCCI would continue to work closely with all stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of NIR and to create a more vibrant and prosperous region for all.
