The Negros Oriental Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NOCCI), led by President Edward C. Du, actively participated in the final coordination meeting of the Tamlang Valley Sustainable Agriculture for Growth and Resiliency Project (TV-SAGRP). The session covered project completion, liquidation, and post-feasibility study planning, marking a major milestone for agricultural development in Negros Oriental. For local stakeholders, the immediate takeaway is clear: collaborative planning and private-sector expertise are critical to ensuring Sustainability in agriculture-driven communities.

Understanding the TV-SAGRP Initiative

The Tamlang Valley Sustainable Agriculture for Growth and Resiliency Project was designed to improve agricultural productivity while strengthening long-term community outcomes. Anchored in evidence-based planning and feasibility studies, the project integrates environmental protection, farmer support, and economic viability.

Why Tamlang Valley Matters

Tamlang Valley plays an important role in local food production and rural livelihoods. However, like many agricultural areas in Negros Oriental, it faces challenges related to climate variability, resource management, and market access. TV-SAGRP addresses these gaps by promoting practices that enhance Sustainability while improving income opportunities for farming communities.

From Feasibility Study to Implementation

A key component of the project was the feasibility study led by Negros Oriental State University (NORSU), with contributions from experts across sectors. This study provided the technical and economic foundation needed to guide investments and planning decisions that support long-term Sustainability.

NOCCI’s Role in the Final Project Coordination Meeting

NOCCI’s participation in the project completion and post-FS planning session reflects the organization’s commitment to inclusive development. Representing the business sector, NOCCI helps ensure that agricultural projects are aligned with market realities and regional growth strategies.

Bridging Business and Agriculture

By engaging in TV-SAGRP, NOCCI strengthens the link between farmers, academic institutions, and private enterprises. This connection supports Sustainability by aligning production with demand, encouraging value-added activities, and improving supply chain resilience.

Supporting Transparent Project Completion

The liquidation and completion phase of the project emphasized accountability and transparency. Such processes build trust among stakeholders and ensure that future initiatives are grounded in sound governance, a core requirement for lasting Sustainability.

Recognition of Leadership and Expertise

NOCCI President Edward C. Du receiving a Certificate of Appreciation

During the event, NOCCI President Edward C. Du received a Certificate of Appreciation for his expertise and exceptional contributions as a member and resource person of the NORSU Feasibility Study Team.

Why This Recognition Matters

The acknowledgment highlights the value of private-sector insight in development planning. President Du’s involvement brought practical business perspectives to the feasibility study, helping ensure that proposed interventions were economically viable and scalable. This blend of academic rigor and industry experience strengthens Sustainability across project outcomes.

Setting a Benchmark for Future Collaboration

Recognizing leadership contributions encourages continued collaboration between chambers of commerce, universities, and local communities. Such partnerships are essential for designing projects that balance profitability, social impact, and environmental care, all pillars of Sustainability.

Implications for Agriculture in Negros Oriental

The completion of TV-SAGRP provides a roadmap for future agricultural initiatives in the province. It demonstrates how structured planning, stakeholder coordination, and data-driven decision-making can deliver measurable benefits.

Long-Term Benefits for Farmers and Communities

Projects rooted in Sustainability help farmers adapt to changing conditions while protecting natural resources. Improved practices, infrastructure planning, and market integration contribute to more stable incomes and stronger rural economies.

A Model for Replication

The TV-SAGRP framework can inform similar initiatives in other agricultural areas of Negros Oriental and beyond. Its emphasis on feasibility studies, cross-sector input, and post-project planning supports Sustainability beyond the life of a single project.

What Stakeholders Can Learn from TV-SAGRP

Local governments, businesses, and farmer groups can draw practical lessons from this initiative.

Invest in Planning and Expertise

Early investment in feasibility studies and expert input reduces risk and improves outcomes. This approach lays the groundwork for Sustainability from the start.

 Maintain Engagement Beyond Project Completion

Post-project planning is just as important as implementation. Continued coordination ensures that gains are maintained and adapted over time, reinforcing Sustainability in real-world conditions.

NOCCI’s active participation in the TV-SAGRP Project Completion and Final Coordination Meeting underscores the importance of collaboration in advancing sustainable agriculture in Negros Oriental. Led by President Edward C. Du, and supported by institutions like NORSU, the initiative demonstrates how shared expertise and accountable planning can deliver lasting value. As the province looks toward future development efforts, projects anchored in Sustainability will remain key to resilient agriculture and inclusive growth.
