The Negros Oriental Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NOCCI), led by President Edward Du, played a significant role in the formal turnover and blessing of the Bayawan-NORSU Sports Complex, a new venue set to host the 2025 Central Visayas Regional Athletic Association (CVRAA) Games. The event, held in Bayawan City, marks a pivotal step in enhancing the region’s sports infrastructure and providing a state-of-the-art facility for athletes in Central Visayas.

President Du and other NOCCI officers attended the ceremony, underscoring their unwavering commitment to fostering regional economic development and promoting sports excellence. The Bayawan-NORSU Sports Complex is the official venue for the 2025 CVRAA, offering modern amenities for both athletes, spectators and sports officials.

The event’s blessing was attended by local business leaders, ensuring that the venue is a place of inspiration and achievement for future sports events. With this new complex, Bayawan City solidifies its position as a prime hub for athletic competitions, contributing to the growth of sports and athletics in Negros Oriental and beyond.

The Negros Oriental Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NOCCI), led by President Edward Du, marked another milestone in its commitment to regional progress by actively participating in the formal turnover and blessing of the Bayawan-NORSU Sports Complex. The new facility, located in Bayawan City, is set to serve as the official venue for the 2025 Central Visayas Regional Athletic Association (CVRAA) Games, positioning the city as a key player in the regional sports landscape.

The ceremony, attended by prominent business and civic leaders, highlighted the growing synergy between infrastructure development and athletic excellence in the province. NOCCI’s involvement in this initiative reflects its strategic vision to support inclusive economic development through diverse channels, including sports.

President Du, in his remarks during the turnover, emphasized the broader economic and social benefits that facilities like the Bayawan-NORSU Sports Complex bring to host communities. “The new CVRAA venue is not only an investment in sports,” Du said, “but also an investment in people, opportunity, and regional competitiveness.”

The Bayawan-NORSU Sports Complex boasts state-of-the-art amenities designed to meet national athletic standards, making it an ideal setting for the 2025 CVRAA Games. It includes a regulation-size track and field, multipurpose courts, training rooms, and accommodations for athletes and officials. These features are expected to attract not just participants, but also spectators and tourists, boosting the local economy in the lead-up to and during the regional event.

NOCCI’s consistent support for projects like the CVRAA sports complex underscores the organization’s belief in infrastructure as a catalyst for sustainable development. The chamber recognizes that investments in sports facilities can help drive ancillary sectors such as tourism, transportation, retail, and food services.

Moreover, the upcoming CVRAA Games are anticipated to serve as a showcase of young athletic talent across Central Visayas, offering students and amateur athletes a competitive platform to display their skills. By hosting the event, Bayawan City—and by extension, Negros Oriental—will gain valuable exposure and create momentum for future opportunities in sports and event tourism.

The ceremonial blessing of the complex was attended by clergy, school officials, local government representatives, and private sector partners. The event featured symbolic acts of dedication, underscoring the vision of the Bayawan-NORSU Sports Complex as a hub for achievement, sportsmanship, and community pride.

In collaboration with local stakeholders, NOCCI played an integral role in facilitating support from both the public and private sectors, ensuring the readiness of the facility ahead of the 2025 CVRAA Games. The chamber also helped align logistics, advocacy, and community engagement, reinforcing its leadership role beyond business and commerce.

NOCCI Executive Director John Jalandoni noted that this involvement illustrates how chambers of commerce can meaningfully contribute to social infrastructure development. “The CVRAA is more than an athletic event—it’s a celebration of community resilience, talent, and shared purpose,” Jalandoni said.

Bayawan City officials also lauded NOCCI’s participation, stating that their partnership significantly accelerated the completion and promotion of the complex. Local businesses, anticipating the economic ripple effects of the event, have begun preparing to accommodate the expected influx of visitors during the CVRAA season.

The business community is optimistic about the long-term impact of the complex. With its capability to host future CVRAA events and other athletic competitions, Bayawan City is now on track to become a regional sports destination, attracting not only athletes but also sports organizations and development programs.

As preparations for the 2025 CVRAA continue, NOCCI remains committed to supporting logistics, promotions, and stakeholder coordination. The chamber’s role extends to ensuring the games become an economic multiplier for the local economy, echoing its broader mission of regional empowerment through cross-sector collaboration.

In its support for the Bayawan-NORSU Sports Complex and the upcoming CVRAA, NOCCI exemplifies its proactive stance in aligning infrastructure investments with community and economic development goals. With facilities now in place, and collaboration among stakeholders steadily strengthening, the road to the 2025 CVRAA is not only a journey of athletic excellence—it’s a testament to the power of unified progress.
