Negros Oriental PRDP PPMIU Advances Infrastructure and Investment Plans

The members of the Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP)-Provincial Project Management and Implementing Unit (PPMIU) of Negros Oriental, spearheaded by Negros Oriental Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NOCCI) and PRDP-Negros Oriental Focal Person John Jalandoni, convened at the Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO), Dumaguete City, for its Regular Meeting.

During the said meeting, the PRDP Negros Oriental team tackled the following agenda:

1. Finalization and Submission of Feasibility Study (FS) and Program of Work (POW) for the PRDP Trinidad Bridge in Guihulngan City;
2. Accomplishment Review and Updates on the PRDP Road Project Impact Assessment and Survey at the 4 Beneficiary LGUs in Pamplona, Sibulan, Valencia, and Sta. Catalina
3. Preparation and Coordination Plan for the Negros Oriental PRDP Scale-Up Business Conference on August 7-9, 2024 at the Negros Oriental Convention Center; and
4. Project Management Workshop and Investment Promotion for the Proposed PRDP Road Projects in Northern/Central (Pamplona, Sibulan, Valencia) and Southern (Sta. Catalina) Negros Oriental, amounting to PHP 1.2 Billion.

The Provincial Project Management and Implementing Unit (PPMIU) of the Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP) in Negros Oriental recently held its regular meeting at the Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO) in Dumaguete City. The meeting, spearheaded by the Negros Oriental Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NOCCI) and led by PRDP-Negros Oriental Focal Person John Jalandoni, focused on advancing key infrastructure and investment projects that are poised to enhance the province’s economic landscape.

During the meeting, the PRDP Negros Oriental team tackled several critical agenda items, demonstrating a concerted effort to drive the province’s development forward. One of the key items on the agenda was the finalization and submission of the Feasibility Study (FS) and Program of Work (POW) for the Trinidad Bridge in Guihulngan City. This bridge project is expected to significantly improve transportation and accessibility in the region, which in turn will support local commerce and mobility.

Another important discussion point was the review and update of the PRDP Road Project Impact Assessment and Survey at the four beneficiary Local Government Units (LGUs) in Pamplona, Sibulan, Valencia, and Sta. Catalina. The team assessed the accomplishments to date and identified areas for improvement to ensure the projects meet their intended outcomes. The successful completion of these road projects will further strengthen infrastructure in these municipalities, promoting economic growth and improved quality of life for residents.

In addition to infrastructure development, the PPMIU is also laying the groundwork for the Negros Oriental PRDP Scale-Up Business Conference, scheduled to take place from August 7 to 9, 2024, at the Negros Oriental Convention Center. This event will serve as a platform to showcase investment opportunities and foster collaboration between stakeholders, including local businesses, investors, and government officials. The conference is expected to attract significant attention, highlighting the economic potential of the province and facilitating new partnerships that could drive further development.

The meeting also included a Project Management Workshop and discussions on Investment Promotion for the proposed PRDP road projects in Northern and Central Negros Oriental, specifically in Pamplona, Sibulan, and Valencia, as well as in Southern Negros Oriental, particularly in Sta. Catalina. The proposed projects, which amount to PHP 1.2 billion, are intended to bolster infrastructure in these areas, creating a more conducive environment for economic activities and attracting further investment.

The strategic focus on infrastructure and business development underscores the importance of coordinated efforts between public and private sectors, ensuring that the province’s growth is sustainable and inclusive.
